After graduation from FVHS I attended Southern Illinois University, majoring in administration of justice. Also was in ROTC all 4 yrs graduating and getting my commission as a second lieutenant in 1973. Navigator school at Mather AFB in Sacramento,CA. Next was Korat Royal Thai AFB, from '74 - '75, flying AC-130's, where I also met my wife and got married. Next I was transfered to Charleston AFB, SC, flying C-141 Starlifter. In 1979 I was transferred to Camp New Amsterdam, Netherlands, as the officer-in-charge of the base command post. Was there until 1982, when I went to Travis AFB, CA, flying C-5 Galaxy until 1985, when I came to Florida to finish up my 20 yr career, back in the AC-130, retiring in 1993.
Since retiring from the AF, I've tried my hand at cabinet making - which I loved, but my employer didn't pay squat, selling insurance, which, paid well, but I hated doing, teaching martial arts, which I loved, but took too much time away from home, installing flooring with my son, which I enjoyed until I had a heart attack and my knees started giving out. I worked for the county as a 911 fire and EMS dispatcher for a couple of years. Lastly I worked for the city as a police dispatcher, retiring in Oct 2014.
My daughter, well, step-daughter actually, was born in 1968 and has produced 4 grand children for me, and my son was born in 1977 and has produced two tri-cycle motors. He and his wife just announced over Christmas 2015 they have a third one in the oven.
I am politically very conservative, and a very dedicated born again Christian. Additional education is a masters degree in theology from Liberty University, VA, completing that in 1991 while still in the AF.
I'm still happily married to my first wife, since 1975.
