John William Thornton

John William Thornton, 55, of Kenosha, Died Monday, July 3, 2006 at United Hospital Systems – St. Catherine’s Campus.  He was born Sept. 29, 19250, in Chicago, to Frederick J. and Jane V. (Morgan) Thornton.  He was a graduate of Forest View high School in Arlington Heights and attended the College of Lake County.
 
He grew up in Rolling meadows and resided in McHenry/Fox Lake areas before going to Kenosha.  From May 8, 1970, until his retirement on Jan. 25, 1976, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy.  On March 19, 2000, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Kenosha, he married Leah (Conklin) Madison.  For a number of years, he worked as a carpenter and machinist, from 1995 until his retirement in 2002, he was a postal employee for the Waukegan Post Office.  He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church with his family. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
 
He enjoyed photography, woodworking, music and cooking. He also was a Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and a Star Trek fan. Above all, he absolutely loved and cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
 
Survivors include his loving wife, Leah Thornton of Kenosha; a daughter, Lisa Madison-Jecevicus of Kenosha; a grandson, Hayden Jecevicus; and his mother-in-law, Rose Conklin of Kenosha.
He also was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Harry Conklin; and a sister-in-law, Sheri Singleton.  Interment is at St. George Cemetary.
