Georgeanna (George) Driver (Higdon) VIEW PROFILE

Margaret "George" Georgeanna Higdon, age 69, of Hot Springs, passed away on April 10, 2021. She was born May 5, 1951 at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. She was the daughter of Margot and George Driver. On August 18, 1990, she was married to Phil Higdon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and numerous aunts and uncles.

She moved from Florida to Illinois in the 6th grade. There she attended Forest View High School where she was a cheerleader and voted “most likely to laugh” and “quick with a joke.” Her life-long passion was children which is why, after having four of her own, she went to college. She earned her teaching degree at Henderson State University. She went on to teach first grade at Oaklawn Elementary School where she was able to nurture and educate so many lucky children.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Hot Springs where she helped to form the Women’s Ministry. George had many interests. She loved tennis, camping, riding bikes, and taking a walk. However, her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family and friends. There was not a more devoted mother and grandmother. She took such joy in helping others.

George is survived by her husband, Phil Higdon; three daughters and their spouses, Jenifer and Kord Smith of Keller, Tx, Sarah and Wil Carnes of JBLM, WA, and Clare Dunn of Little Rock; son James Pennick of Hot Springs; six grandchildren; brother Daniel and Sandy Driver of Largo, FL; sister Ellen Jones of Largo, FL; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and a host of wonderful friends.

Georgia's passing was brought to my attention by classmate Alan Brandt and we thank him. He points out that she was voted by our class, as "most likely to laugh". That's a great way to be remembered. On behalf of her Class of '69 classmates and all the staff of our website, we send condolences to her entire family and know she is missed.
